Physical Plant Mechanic, HVAC/R Specialist | UC Santa Cruz | Santa Cruz, CA UC SANTA CRUZ Physical Plant Mechanic, HVAC/R Specialist Physical Plant, Building & Utility Services JOB #0801595 Career: Full Time Starting Salary: $5,678/monthly. Salary will increase to $6,264/month upon successful completion of 6 months of satisfactory service. More information provided at interview. Under the supervision of the HVAC Superintendent and HVAC assistant Supervisor, inspect, maintain, and perform necessary repairs and installation on equipment including, but not limited to, various types of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, seawater distribution systems, refrigeration, clean labs, fume hoods, kitchen machinery, and automatic DDC controls' systems that are common to all University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) buildings. Keep up with rapidly evolving heating, ventilation, air conditioning / refrigeration (HVAC/R) and Building Management System (BMS) technology. Update training as required to meet this demand. Qualifications include: Specialized training and experience in HVAC/R systems analysis, calibration, and repair. Journey level experience and/or skills in the installation, maintenance, and repair of building HVAC/R equipment, electrical and plumbing equipment, and kitchen equipment. Experience and ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical wiring diagrams, and electronic schematics. Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot electronics, electric circuitry and pneumatic controls. Ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
